HOW TO CROCHET A MAKE-UP/TOILETRY TRAVEL BAG - DIY - TUTORIAL

For this project you will need:
Crochet yarn (of your choice of colours etc) 
Crochet hook (of your choice)
yarn needle
scissors
beads

ABBREVIATIONS:

picot - chain 3, sl st in bottom of ch 3
sts - stitches
beg - beginning
sl st - slip stitch
bpdc - back post double crochet
fpdc - front post double crochet
2dctog - crochet 2 dc together
sk - skip
ch - chain

Instructions:

Row 1.  Ch 25, dc in 4th ch from hook, 5 dc in same ch space, 1 dc in each of next 20 sts, 6 dc in next st, now working along other side, 1 dc in each of next 20 sts, sl st in top of beg ch 3.

Row 2: Ch 3, 1 dc in same st, 2 dc in each of next 5 dc, (12 dc total at end), 1 dc in each of next 20 dc, 2 dc in each of next 6 dc, 1 dc in each of next 20 dc, sl st in top of beg ch 3.

Row 3:  repeat row 2, (you should now have a total of 24 dc at each end).

Row 4: Ch 3, dc in each dc to end, sl st in top of beg ch 3.

Row 5: Ch 3, bpdc in each st around, joining with a sl st in top of beg ch 3.

Row 6: Ch 3, fpdc in each st around, joining with a sl st in top of beg ch 3.

Rows 7-20: repeat row 6.

Row 21:  Ch 3, 2dctog, ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in next dc, repeat to end and sl st in top of beg ch 3.

Row 22:  Ch3, in next ch 2 space make 3 dc, ch 3 , sl st in bottom of same ch 3 to make picot, 3 dc,( shell made with picot ), in next ch 2 space put 3 dc, ch 3, sl st in bottom of same ch 3 to make picot, 3 dc, another shell with picot made, repeat to end, in last shell make 3 dc, picot and 2 dc and sl st in top of beg ch 3. Fasten off.

Make 2 strings, each with 100 chains.  Loop through each string in the ch 2 spaces from one side to the  either side, so when you pull on both strings the bag will close shut, see video. Or you can string your strings as you please.
