HOW TO CROCHET A BABY BLANKET - FT. THE BEAD STITCH AND CRAB STITCH - TUTORIAL

Things you will need:

Crochet yarn (I used Bernat baby sport)
Crochet hook ( I used 4:00mm)
Scissors
Yarn needle

Abbreviations:

St - stitch
sc- single crochet
ch - chain
dc - double crochet
Sk- skip
sl st - slip stitch

Crab stitch and
Bead stitch - watch video for guidance

Row 1
Commence with ch 82, dc in 4th ch from hook; make 3 dc around that dc just made, holding all loops on hook (you should have 7 loops on hook); yarn over and pull through all 7 loops on hook; (bead stitch made), ch 1, sk next st, dc in next st, make bead stitch around this dc; repeat to end, you should have 2 sts remaining, sl one st and dc in the last st. (You should have 38 bead stitches on this row AND ALL OTHER ROWS). Ch 3 turn
Row 2
Make bead st in first sp before the first bead stitch; repeat making a bead st in every sp between bead stitches; end with dc in top of beginning ch 3, ch 3 and turn
Repeat Row 2 until you reach the desired length of your blanket (I made 30 rows). DON'T BREAK OFF YARN

EDGING:
Row 1
ch 1, sl st in same place, sc in each st around the blanket, putting 3 sc in each corner st; end with sl st to beginning sc.

Repeat for 4 more rows.

Last Row

Working the crab stitch (or backward sc) all around the blanket (watch the video for guidance).
