ABBREVIATIONS:
ch - chain
dc - double crochet
sc - single crochet
sl st - slip stitch
beg - beginning
st or sts - stitch or stitches
Suzette stitch - work a sc and a dc in same stitch
sk - skip
dec 2 dc tog - decrease 2 double crochet together
dec 2 sts tog - decrease 2 stitches together
fpdc - front post double crochet
bpdc - back post double crochet
Rnd - Round
Ch 74, join with sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: ch 3, 1 dc in each st around, joint with sl st to top of beg ch 3.
Rnd 2: ch 3, fpdc around the dc post of previous rnd, bpdc around the next dc post, fpdc around the next dc post, repeat around, join with a sl st in top of beg ch 3.
Rnds 3 - 5: Repeat Rnd 2.
Rnd 6: ch 1, sc in same st, work a suzette stitch (see abbreviations for guidance) in the next st, sk next st, work a suzette stitch in the next st, sk the next st, repeat, ending with a sl st in first sc. (you should have 37 suzette stitches on this round).
Rnd 7: ch 1, sc in same st, work a suzette stitch in the next sc, sk the next dc, work a suzette stitch in the next sc, sk the next dc, repeat, ending with a sl st in first sc. (you should have 37 suzette stitches).
Rnds 8-15: Repeat Rnd 7 (on each rnds you should still have 37 suzette stitches). Decrease Rnds:
Rnd 16: ch 1, sc in same st. dec 2 sts tog, make a suzette st in the next sc, sk the next dc, make a suzette stitch in the next sc, repeat 15 more times; dec 2 sts tog, make a suzette in the next 18 sc, ending with a sl st to first sc.
Rnd 17: ch 2 (this ch 2 does not count as a stitch), dc in same st, 1 dc in each st all around, ending with a sl st in first dc.
Rnd 18: ch 2, dc in next dc, dec 2 dc tog, 1 dc in next dc, dec 2 dc tog, dc in next dc, repeat, ending with sl st in beg dc.
