HOW TO MAKE A MERMAID TAIL BLANKET - JUNIOR SIZE - TUTORIAL - DIY

MERMAID TAIL 

CH 6, join , 

Row 1: ch 3, make 11 dc in ring, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. (12 dc)

Row 2: ch 3, 1 dc in same st, 2 dc in each st  all around, end with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. (24 dc)



Row 3: Ch 3, *1 dc in  the next  st, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts, 2 dc in the next st, repeat to end, join in the top of the beginning ch 3.

INCREASE ROWS:

Rows 4 - 15: repeat Row 3, but increasing the dc's (for example this row 4 will be, *1 dc in each of the next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, etc., and Row 5 will be , 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts, (so in essence you are increasing by 1 on each row. Row 15 you should have a total of 128 sts.



Round 16 - ch 3, 1 dc in each st all around, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3.

Rounds 17 - 33: Repeat Round 16.  

Rounds 34 -   53: For these Rounds  do not join, we will leave this opening all the way until the project is completed (this will be an open slit).

 Round 54: ch 1, sc in each stitch all around, join with sl st to first sc.


TAIL

The tail is worked in 2 separate pieces, which have to be sewn together to form the tail.  See video.

Row 1: CH 39, dc in 3rd ch from hook, 1 dc in each ch to end, ch 2 turn (38sts)

  ALL DOUBLE CROCHET WILL BE WORKED IN THE BACK LOOPS.


Row 2: dc in each st to within the last 2 sts, ch 3 turn, (36 sts).
 Note  you are leaving the 2 last sts unworked)
Rows 3:1 dc in each of next 35 sts, ch 3 turn (36 sts)

Row 4: repeat row 2, ch 3 turn, (34 sts)
 Row 5: 1 dc in each of next 33 sts, ch 3 turn, (34 sts)

Row 6: repeat row 2, ch 3 turn, (32 sts)
 Row 7:   1 dc in each of next 31 sts, ch 3 turn, (32 sts)

Row 8:repeat row 2, ch 3 turn, (30 sts)
Row 9: 1 dc in each of next 29 sts, ch 3 turn, (30 sts)

Row 10:repeat row 2, ch 3 turn, (28 sts)
Row 11: 1 dc in each of next 27 sts, ch 3 turn, (28 sts)

Row 12:repeat row 2, ch 3 turn, (26 sts)
Row 13: 1 dc in each of next 25 sts, ch 3 turn, (26 sts)

Row 14:repeat row 2, ch 3 turn, (24 sts)
Row 15: 1 dc in each of next 23 sts, ch 3 turn, (24 sts)

Row 16:repeat row 2, ch 3 turn, (22 sts)
Row 17: 1 dc in each of next 21 sts, ch 3 turn, (22 sts)


Edging

work the crab stitch (also know as backward single crochet).

Stitch both pieces together, watch video.
