HOW TO CROCHET BABY BOOTIES FT. THE CRAB STITCH - TUTORIAL
What you will need:
Crochet yarn
Crochet hook
Yarn needle
Scissors
Embellishment of your choice
Abbreviations:
ch - chain
sl st - slip stitch
dc - double crochet
hdc- half double crochet
sc- single crochet
Dec 2 tog - decrease 2 dc together

Ch 12, sc in 2nd st from hook; sc in next 9 sts, 5 dc in last st, (these 5 dcs are the toe or front area);(now work on opposite side); sc in each of the next 10 sts, sl st in first sc.
Row 2
Ch 1, sc in same st, 1 sc in each of next 10 sts, 2 dc in each of nest 5 dcs, 1 sc in each of the last 10 sts, sl st in beginning sc.
Row 3
Ch 1, sc in same st, 1 hdc in each of the next 10 sts, 1 dc in each of the next 10 dcs, 1 hdc in each of the last 10 sts, sl st in beginning sc.
Row 4
Ch 1, sc in same st, 1 hdc in each of the next hdc, 1 dc in each of the next 3 dc, 2 dc in each of the next 4 dc, 1 dc in each of the next 3 dc, 1 hdc in each of the last 10 hdc, sl st in beginning sc.
Row 5
Ch 1, sc in same st, 1 sc in each of the next 10 sts, (we are now going to decrease stitches); dec 2 dc tog, repeat 6 more times (you should now have 7 dcs at the toe area); 1 sc in each of the last 10 sts, sl st in beginning sc.
Row 6
Ch 1, sc in same st, 1 sc in each of the next 10 sts, 1 dc in each of the next 7 dcs, holding all loops on hook, yarn over and pull through all loops, (those 7 dcs become 1 dc); 1 sc in each of the last 10 sts, (you should now have a total of 21 dcs on this round), sl st in beginning sc.
Rows 7-16
Ch 1, sc in same st, 1 sc in each st all around , sl st in beginning sc, (on all rows make sure you have 21 sc). DO NOT BREAK YARN.
EDGING
Working backwards, you will sc in each st (this stitch is know as backward sc or crab stitch). Check the abbreviations above and you will be directed to a video show you how to complete this edging.
