fpdc - front post double crochet

THE PATTERN ROWS ARE (ROUND 18, the increase row)

AND (ROUND 19, the suzette stitches). REMEMBER, when completing the second round of the suzette stitch, always put your sc and dc in the sc on the previous round, which means you will skip the dc in every case. Hope this is clear.

COMMENCE: For a longer or shorter Poncho, you can increase or decrease the amount of rows to suit you. This Poncho will fit M - Large, which is my size.

ch 96, join with sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: ch 2, hdc in each st around, join with sl st to beg. hdc. (96 sts ).

Rnd 2: ch 3, fpdc in next st., bpdc in next st, fpdc in next st, repeat and end with sl st in beg. ch 3.

Rnds 3 - 16: Repeat Rnd 2, putting a fpdc around the previous fpdc and bpdc around the previous bpdc, (alternating them)do this row until your desired length for your roll collar. (I made 15 rows).

Rnd 17: ch 3, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of the next 12 sts, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of the next 12 sts, repeat, 1 dc in each of the 2 last sts, sl st in beg ch 3.(increase row).

Rnd 18: ch 3, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of the next 13 sts, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of the next 13 sts, repeat, 1 dc in each of the last 3 sts, sl st in beg ch 3. (increase row).

Rnd 19: ch 1, sc and dc in same place (suzette stitch made), sk next st, sc and dc in next st, sk next st, repeat and end with sl st to beg sc.

 Rnd 20 - 21: Repeat Rnd 19.

Rnd 22: Repeat Rnd 18, and 1 dc in each of the last 5 sts. (increase row)

 Rnd 23-25: Repeat Rnd 19.

Rnds 26 to end (according to your preference in length): Repeat Rnds, 18( instead, where you have 1 dc in each of 13 sts, it will be in the next 14 sts, (for all other increase Rounds you will add 1 which means the other increase row will be 1 dc in the next 15 sts, etc. also, you will always have a few extra stitches at the end of these increase rounds, just put 1 dc in each of those extra stitches. Hope this is very clear. Always make only 1 Row of Round 18 which is the increase Row. AND Rnd 19 (the suzette stitch row, always make 3 rows of this rnd).

End your project with an increase row.

Edging:

Use the backward single crochet (sometimes called the crab stitch).  Please refer to this video for guidance as to how to make the backward single crochet:
