HOW TO CROCHET A BABY BLANKET FT. THE ARRUGA STITCH AND CROCHET WAVE EDGING - TUTORIAL

Things you will need:

yarn - your choice
crochet hook - your choice
scissors
yarn needle

Abbreviations:

ch - chain
sc - single crochet
fpsc - front post single crochet
bpsc - back post single crochet
dc - double crochet

The Arruga stitch is done in multiple of 2, plus 3 for turning chain.

The Wave edging stitch is done in multiples of 4.

This blanket measures 30" x 24"

Row 1:  Ch 125,  1 dc in 4th ch from hook, and in each st to end, ch 1 and turn

Row 2:  1 sc in same st 1 bpsc around next dc, 1 fpsc around next dc, repeat to end, sc in top of beginning ch, ch 3, turn

Row 3:  1 dc in  next st and in each st to end, ch 1 and turn

Row 4:  1 sc in same st , 1 fpsc around next dc, 1 bpsc around next dc, repeat to end with a sc in top beg ch 3,  ch 3, turn,
Row 5:  1 dc in in next st and in each st to end, ch 1 and turn


Rows 6 - 72 Repeat rows 2 to 5 (Row 72 should be the fpdc row.)

 Edging: (Crochet Wave Edging Stitch): Multiple of 4 sts

Row 73: 1 dc in each st, at corner st put 3 dc, repeat all around the blanket putting 3 dc in the other 3 corner stitches.


Row 74:  Watch video for guidance.  ch 3, 1 dc in each of the next 3 dc, ch 4, turn work around, sc in the top of the beginning ch 3, turn work back around, make 7 dc in the ch 4 space; 1 dc in each of the next 4 dc, ch 4, turn work around, sc around the post of the 7 dc group (watch video to see how this is done), turn work back around, make 7 dc in the ch 4 space, repeat to end, (If your stitches are off and you only end up with say, 2 dc at the end where it suppose to be 4, just put 2 dc in each st), sl st in top of beginning ch 3. fasten off.
