HOW TO CROCHET A CHEVRON BABY AFGHAN BLANKET - TUTORIAL - DIY
For this project you will need:
crochet hook: I used a 5:00 mm
yarn: your choice
yarn needle
scissors
ABBREVIATIONS:
dc - double crochet
sc - single crochet
sl st - slip stitch
st or sts - stitch, or stitches
dc3tog - make 1 dc in each of 3 sts, holding loop on hook, you should have 4 loops on hook after working half of each double crochet, yarn and pull through all 4 loops. Watch video for guidance
This Chevron stitch is worked in multiples of 12, plus 4
Chain 3 counts as a double crochet in this pattern.
Measurement: 36" x 30"
CHANGE COLOR EVERY 3 Rows
Start with a chain of 120 plus 4
Row 1: dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in the next 4 sets, dc3tog (see notes above), (this creates the bottom point): 1 dc in each of the next 4 sts, 3 dc in the next st (this creates the upper point) 1 dc in each of the next 4 sts, dc3tog, repeat from ending with 2 dc in last st. Ch 3 turn
Row 2: dc in same stitch as ch 3, dc in next 4 sts, dc3tog, 1 dc in next 4 sts, 3 dc in the 3rd of the 3dc group of previous row, 1 dc in each of next 4 sts, repeat ending with 2 dc in last st, ch 3 turn.
Rows 3 - 50: Repeat Row 2. Make your blanket as long as you require. Don't break the yarn.
Edging:
continue working sc evenly in each dc post along both sides where you join the colour yarns, making sure you crochet over those loose ends. I left the wavey sides as is without sc. I liked that look.
