HOW TO CROCHET A GRANNY SQUARE BABY LOVEY BLANKET - TUTORIAL
You will need:
crochet yarn - your choice
yarn needle
crochet hook - your choice
poly fill
ABBREVIATIONS:
ch - chain
dc - double crochet
sl st - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
For the project ch 3 is considered a dc
BLANKET
ch 6 join w sl st,
ch 3, 2 dc ,ch 2, 3 dc in ring, ch 1, 3 dc, ch2, 3dc in ring , ch 1, 3 dc , ch2, 3dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, sl st in beg ch 3
sl st in next 2 sts and next sp, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp, (corner made) ch 1, 3 dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1, corner st, ch 1, 3 dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1, corner st, repeat once more, sl st in top of beg ch 3.
Repeat row 2 for the desired size of your blanket. Don't break yarn.
EDGING:
sc in each stitch around the blanket. In each corner, put 2 sc in the ch 2 spaces.
HEAD
Ch 2, make 6 sc in first ch, do not join (use a stitch marker)
Round 2 - 2 sc in each st, (put your marker in first sc,) -
Round 3 -, 2 sc in the first sc, 1 sc in the next sc, repeat but don't join, move up marker -
Round 4 - 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in next, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, repeat but dont join, move up marker
Round 5- 2 sc in next st,1 sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, repeat but dont join,
move up marker

Round 6 - 2 sc in next st,1 sc in each of next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, repeat, but dont join,

Rounds 7-14 - 1 sc in each st all around. move up marker on each round.
TIME TO DECREASE
Round 15: Sc2tog, sc in next st, sc2tog, repeat to end, don't join
Round 16: Sc2tog, Sc2tog, repeat to end, don't join
Round 17: Repeat Round 16. You should have a small opening left in order to insert the poly fill. Don't break yarn.
TIME TO INSERT THE POLY FILL
Add poly fill. close up the
opening by slip stitching around and then pull the open space tightly to
close it.
MAKE EYES
ch 3, join with sl st. put 6 sc in ring and join with sl st to first sc. Pull yarn tight to close opening of the ring.
Use your yarn needle to sew on mouth and whiskers, in a way that you choose.
MAKE EARS - 4 triangle shapes. 2 each in different colors.
Ch 10,
Row 1: Sl st in next st, sc in each of the next 7 sts, sl st in last st, ch 1 turn
Row 2: Sl st in next st, sc in each of next 6 sts, sl st in last st, ch 1, turn
Row 3: Sl st in next st, sc in each of next 5 sts, sl st in last st, ch 1, turn
Row: 4: Sl st in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts, sl st in last st, ch 1, turn
Row 5: Sl st in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, sl st in last st, ch 1, turn
Row 6: Sl st in next st, sc in the next 2 sts, sl st in last st, ch 1, turn
Row 7: Sl st in next st, fasten off. Make 2 for each ears with different colors
